“I won’t always be able to give you your light back, because sometimes you need to find that within yourself, but I’ll stand by your side and hold your hand in the dark so things aren’t so scary.”
From New York Timesbestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story that starts long before the lovers meet.
I’d never forgotten him—a man I’d yet to meet.
Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break.
Until one day it did.
Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one—one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing.
Griffin forgave me, and somehow we were able to rekindle our childhood connection. Only now we were adults, and that connection had grown to a spark. Our letters quickly went from fun to flirty to downright dirty, revealing our wildest fantasies. So it only made sense that we would take our relationship to the next level and see each other in person.
Only Griff didn’t want to meet. He asked that I trust him and said it was for the best. But I wanted more—more Griff, in the flesh—so I took a big chance and went looking for him. People have done crazier things for love.
But what I found could change everything.
As soon as I saw Dirty Letters was out and written by the same authors of Hate Notes I knew I had to read it! I loved the banter in Hate Notes and couldn’t wait to see what Dirty Letters was throwing our way. Oh my gosh! There was steam, there was serious matters, there was banter, there was love, there was so much to this book I really enjoyed it! The writing combo of these two authors really works for me and the romance was so swoon worthy.
The alternating point of views in this book was done so well! I liked it just as much as I liked it in Hate Notes. The flow worked well while keeping repetition to a minimum when situations were viewed through each character.
I totally connected with Luca the main female lead. She felt like a real person to me. Her struggles and her aspirations and her spunk had me rooting for her since page 1. She was so cute and truly had me laughing and cheering for her. Her friendship with Doc her therapist was so freaking cute I just wanted to hug them. I loved how they each supported and helped one another through their wacky friendship.
Griffin was alpha male just how I like ’em. Wink wink. He was strong and witty while also being vulnerable. Not without his share of problems either. I liked his male tendencies but also really enjoyed seeing how much he cares for Luca. And he was just so charming my friends! Which brings me to the romance.
I loved the romance in this book. It was playful and built up to steamyyy. The nervousness and quirkiness of both characters made it believable and super fun. I read this book in a day and wanted more at the end.
The agoraphobia representation was explained very well and added depth to the book and depth to the characters in their way of dealing with situations. This book was a perfect mix of romance and serious with awesome characters.
