Kristen Petersen doesn’t do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don’t get her. She’s also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.

Planning her best friend’s wedding is bittersweet for Kristen—especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He’s funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. Kristen knows he’d be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it’s harder and harder to keep him at arm’s length.

Have I told you guys that I am an extremely picky romance reader? Even if the slightest thing annoys me the entire book can be ruined for me? Now that I’m thinking about it this is true of other genres too but the genres I’m the hardest on is definitely romance and young adult. But being this hard on the genres means that when I enjoy a book I tend to REALLY enjoy it. This is 100% true of The Friend Zone.

This was my kind of romance! A lot of pain and a lot of funny and some good references. I’m a sucker for cult classic movies so the moment Pulp Fiction was mentioned in this book I was on board – and that was pretty early on.

I often find myself at odds with female leads in romance books but I really liked Kristin! She was strong but also talked about her vulnerability. She was quirky and I loved how hangry she’d get – it’s most definitely a thing. The author did not shy away from hard topics and really made you feel for the character. Kristin’s male counterpart was wonderful! Alpha male is great to a certain degree but I don’t typically like them. __________ just felt really real to me.

The reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars was because the ending felt rushed and a decision is made at the end that really irked me. I won’t say anything more about it because spoilers.

If you’ve read The Friend Zone let me know, lets chat about it! I’ll be recommedning this book to anyone looking for a great romance read.

  1. I loved it so much! As someone who has a condition similar to Kristin’s, I felt like it was portrayed really well and loved that it was a main topic as it is something that isn’t talked about enough. I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store.
