It started slow. First the teachers died one by one. Then it began to infect the students, turning their bodies strange and foreign. Now, cut off from the rest of the world and left to fend for themselves on their island home, the girls don’t dare wander outside the school’s fence, where the Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They wait for the cure they were promised as the Tox seeps into everything.
But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And when she does, Hetty learns that there’s more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true.
Can we talk about creepy books? I want to know all your favourite creepy books! I love creepy books. That unsettled, crawling out of my skin creepy feeling.. give me all the books that’ll make me feel like this. It’s such a different vibe that completely transports me to another atomsphere even though I’m always on my couch reading or in bed. You should add Wilder Girls to your creepy books list because you’ll love it!
The is a story about an all girl boarding school on an island (Who thought that was a good idea ps) that gets hit with a deadly disease. The descriptions of how the disease affects each character was so interesting. I could picture each character so vividly which is sometimes a hard thing for me to do when reading. Props to the author for incredible writing!
I do feel like I had so many questions after I finished but in a way it was satisfying to have all those questions still floating around because the mystery around the whole book was what made it such a effective read for me.
If you’re a fan of dystopian books, lord of the flies vibes, and that coming of age time in life you’ll love Wilder Girls!
