The Haunting of Tram Car 015 returns to the alternate Cairo of Clark’s short fiction, where humans live and work alongside otherworldly beings; the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities handles the issues that can arise between the magical and the mundane. Senior Agent Hamed al-Nasr shows his new partner Agent Onsi the ropes of investigation when they are called to subdue a dangerous, possessed tram car. What starts off as a simple matter of exorcism, however, becomes more complicated as the origins of the demon inside are revealed.
Another great novella to add to the Tordotcom collection. I am just loving these publications and how diverse every single story is at Tordotcom. This is a mix of steampunk-sci-fi-djinn-magical realism and it’s executed beautifully! I was flipping pages before I even finished sentences on edge to get to the end to see it all unfold.
Set in a alternate world an investigator from the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments, and Supernatural Entities goes to uncover why a train car is haunted. Can you please repeat “Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments, and Supernatural Entities” again because how fun is that to say! Clark has a way with words that make his novellas so enticing. Blending technology with history is a talent I wish I could have.
**Thank you Tordotcom for sending the ARC my way in exchange for an honest review.**
